Do you urinate more often when it’s cold? Find out why and how to avoid urinary infections

It hasn’t happened to you just once to experience an episode of urinary infection, and when it happens, all you want is for the toilet to be as close as possible to you. Especially in the cold season, when the sensation and the need to urinate seem to be stronger.

The explanation is simple: when it is cold, we do not sweat, and water is removed from the body mainly through urination. That is the reason why it is important not to postpone going to the toilet because toxins in urine stagnate too long in the bladder, multiply and lead to changes in the normal functioning of the kidneys and in that of the urinary tract.

How can you tell if you are having a UTI and need to see your doctor? Depending on its location, the symptoms are different. Thus, if it is a low urinary tract infection or lower UTI (urethritis and cystitis), the most common symptoms are:

  • The constant need to urinate and passing a small amount of urine
  • Cloudy, foul-smelling urine
  • Pain or a burning sensation when urinating
  • Feeling of heaviness or sensitivity in the lower abdomen

If you have an upper urinary tract infection (pyelonephritis):

  • High fever, over 38 degrees Celsius
  • Chills, accompanied by nausea and vomiting.

In 30 seconds you can know for sure if you have a urinary tract infection

If you feel the need to go to the toilet often, pressure in the pelvic area, and a burning sensation when urinating, then we recommend you take a quick test to detect urinary infections until you receive the results from the laboratory. Uractiv® Test helps you find out if you are experiencing a urinary tract infection by detecting the leukocytes, erythrocytes and nitrites produced by bacteria in the urine. It is effective both before and after initiating the treatment.

Uractiv® Test is used at home or on vacation, simple, easy, and in 30 seconds you know for sure. How? Prepare the urine sample. Insert the test strip into the urine sample for 1 second so that the 3 test fields are completely submerged. Remove the test strip and place it horizontally on a dry surface with the test fields facing up, for 30-60 seconds, to allow reactions to take place. Compare the colours on the test strip with those mentioned in the colour table on the box and read the result.

If the test result is positive, we recommend Uractiv® Forte. By mixing the standardized natural extract of bearberry with methylene blue, Uractiv® Forte quickly relieves the feeling of discomfort from urinary disorders, destroys and eliminates pathogenic microorganisms in the urinary tract.
